The Hubble AM-5 48V 100Ah lithium battery is a 5.12 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery built for home and small-business solar energy storage. It stores 5.12 kWh of energy at a nominal voltage of 51.2 V, with a rated capacity of 100 Ah (5-hour rate), so it can carry essential loads through the evening and through load shedding, and it can be charged again from solar panels or the grid the next day.

One AM-5 delivers up to 100 A of continuous charge and discharge current at a 1.0C rating, which means it can supply up to about 5.12 kW of power to an inverter. That is enough for lights, fans, televisions, refrigerators, computers and other everyday appliances, and for the starting surges of motors such as water pumps. Its advanced battery management system (BMS) includes an electronic circuit breaker, voltage protection and a current-limiting function, guarding the battery against over-charge, over-discharge, over-current and short circuit.

The AM-5 is built around new first-life Li-ion prismatic cells in a white bake-lacquer steel case, and it is designed for a service life of around 15 years. Hubble backs the AM-5 with a 10-year warranty, and the data sheet states unlimited cycles within that 10-year warranty, subject to Hubble’s terms and conditions. That makes it a long-term investment for a home solar system rather than a battery that needs replacing every few years.

Installation is flexible. The AM-5 can be wall mounted — it has heavy-duty side handles for easy handling and mounting on the wall — or shelf installed in a standard rack. It connects to the inverter over CAN-bus, with battery link ports, and up to 8 packs can be connected in parallel with full communications, giving a system of up to about 41 kWh from eight batteries. An optional Hubble Cloudlink module adds remote cloud monitoring, so you can check the battery’s state of charge and health from your phone or computer.

The AM-5 is compatible with most inverters and chargers, and it performs well in high temperatures, which suits Pakistan’s hot summers. It charges from -10 °C to +50 °C, and it should be stored between 10 °C and +50 °C at 15% to 75% humidity. The battery has low self-discharge, high energy density and high conversion efficiency, so very little of the energy you store is wasted.
